Atlantic University Sport released the 2020 fall sports schedules today, including women’s rugby, men’s football, men’s and women’s soccer as well as men’s and women’s cross country. Hosts for the 2020 fall championships were also confirmed.
In the first of two consolation semifinals at the U SPORTS Women’s Rugby Championship Presented by the University of Ottawa, the StFX X-Women defeated the UBC Thunderbirds by a score of 26-24 on a frigid and windy day at Matt Anthony Field.
In the first quarterfinal of the day at the U SPORTS Women’s Rugby Championship, the Guelph Gryphons upset the AUS and reigning national champion St. Francis Xavier X-Women 36-12 at Matt Anthony Field at the University of Ottawa.
The U SPORTS No. 2 ranked StFX X-Women played an exhibition game Tuesday evening during StFX fall break week and came away with a 64-0 victory over the NY Village Lions FC, a senior women’s team. The game was played in the Bronx.
The U SPORTS No. 2 ranked StFX X-Women remain undefeated on the AUS season after playing to a 57-2 victory over the No. 8 ranked Acadia Axewomen Saturday afternoon in front of an enthusiastic Homecoming crowd of over 1700 fans.
The U SPORTS No. 3 ranked StFX X-Women remain undefeated and improve to 4-0 with a convincing 38-14 win over the No. 5 ranked Acadia Axewomen in a battle of AUS rugby heavyweights Friday night at Raymond Field.
The defending U SPORTS national champion and No. 1 ranked StFX X-Women were victorious over the visiting Saint Mary’s Huskies Satursay afternoon, handling them by a convincing 81-7 scoreline, in front of close to 300 fans.
The hardest thing to do in sports is win. But for StFX women’s rugby coach, Mike Cavanagh, that’s all he’s done. Friday afternoon, the rugby guru reached the century mark after his team took down the UPEI Panthers 73-5 in the season opener.

On Saturday the StFX X-Women rugby team began defense of their 2018 U SPORTS national title with a pair of pre-season exhibition games against conference rival Acadia. The two teams split their squads and the X-Women came out on top of both games, winning 46-29 and 36-0.

The StFX X-Women defeated the Guelph Gryphons 41-24 to win the U SPORTS national championship Sunday evening at Acadia University. The victory marked the sixth national banner in team history for the X-Women, who previously won in 2016, 2014, 2012, 2010 and 2006 - keeping the tradition alive in winning in even-numbered years.
The StFX X-Women advanced to the U SPORTS semifinal game with a decisive 42-21 victory over the OUA finalist Queen’s Gaels Thursday afternoon in the second quarterfinal of the U SPORTS championship, hosted by Acadia University.
A pair of veteran fifth year X-Women were named U SPORTS second team All-Canadians Wednesday night at the championship awards banquet. Prop Joanna Alphonso and No. 8 Olivia DeMerchant both received the national honour.
