2019 StFX X-Men Soccer News

The StFX Athletic Department honored the athletic accomplishments of their varsity athletes this week via an online awards celebration. X-Women hockey forward Tyra Meropoulis was named the StFX Female Student-Athlete of the Year, while X-Men soccer striker Dan Hayfield received StFX Male Student-Athlete of the Year honors. The StFX Female Community X-Cellence award was co-awarded to Amy Graham (X-Women hockey) and Sam Lake (X-Women rugby), while Paul MacLellan from X-Men cross country was the winner of the StFX Male Community X-Cellence award.

Atlantic University Sport released the 2020 fall sports schedules today, including women’s rugby, men’s football, men’s and women’s soccer as well as men’s and women’s cross country. Hosts for the 2020 fall championships were also confirmed.

The StFX X-Men lost a close 2-0 game to the Carleton Ravens Thursday in the U SPORTS quarterfinals in a wet and snowy morning at CEPSUM Stadium.

The schedule for the 2019 Subway AUS Soccer Championships in Sydney has been released. The X-Women will play Memorial in the quarterfinals Thursday, Oct. 31st at 4:30 pm. The X-Men received a bye into the semifinals and will play the winner of UPEI-UNB on Friday, Nov. 1st at 7:00 pm.
The StFX X-Men topped the Axemen 1-0 in the final regular season game on Friday night.

The U SPORTS No. 1 ranked CBU Capers defeated the StFX X-Men 3-1 Friday evening in AUS action featuring the top two teams in the conference.
