ANTIGONISH, NS - StFX X-Men soccer head coach Graham Kennedy is pleased to announce the commitments of defender Fergus Hall and midfielder Ricardo Carbone for the 2020-21 season.

A 6'2" defender out of Carihi High School in Campbell River, B.C., Fergus Hall has been a BC provincial youth team member since the age of 14, and was part of the Canada Soccer U15 national youth team set-up. Following grade 10, Hall transferred to Belmont High School in Victoria, B.C. for grade 11 and the first semester of grade 12 to accelerate his soccer development. While in Victoria, he trained with Pacific FC of the Canadian Premier League and suited up for the Vancouver Island Wave in the BC Soccer U17 Premier League and Vic West of the Vancouver Island Soccer League's top division.

"Fergus has an excellent technical foundation, good size, speed, and strength, and he is ahead of the curve for his age," states Coach Kennedy. "He has the potential to be an exceptional U SPORTS defender, and we are thrilled to welcome him to StFX."

Hall plans to complete a Bachelor of Business Administration degree at StFX University.

Ricardo Carbone is a 5'11" central midfielder from Calgary, Alta., who has spent the past two seasons playing in Europe - FC Lugano (Switzerland) in 2018-19 and G.D. Estoril Praia (Portugal) in 2017-18.

"Ricardo will arrive in August as a 20-year old freshman with a solid pedigree," notes Kennedy. "He has been chasing a pro career and knows we can provide him with a great education, while helping to keep his professional soccer goals alive."

With the departure of several key seniors, including former U SPORTS most valuable player Dan Hayfield, the Carbone signing is timely for the X-Men. "It is a crucial recruiting year for us," comments Kennedy. "Ricardo is a huge win for us and will steady our midfield from day one."

Carbone is a product of Calgary Villains FC and Bishop O'Byrne High School, and he is enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts degree program at StFX.
