X-Women cross country/track graduate Jane Hergett named U SPORTS Top 8 Academic All-Canadian

U SPORTS proudly announced Monday the student-athletes selected as Top 8 Academic All-Canadians for the 2020-21 season. Jane Hergett of StFX, Joe Gatenby of UNB, Samantha Gouveia of MacEwan, Max Eisele of Calgary, Brigitte Lefebvre-Okankwu of Ottawa, Erik Siksna of Queen’s, Marie-Pier Champagne of Laval and Félix Goulet of Montréal were nominated for their excellence both on and off the field of play.

The X-Women and X-Men cross country teams competed at the U SPORTS national championship Saturday on the Plains of Abraham, hosted by the Universite de Laval. The host Laval squads won both national championship team banners.

Siona Chisholm of the StFX women’s cross country team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport female athlete of the week for the week ending October 31, 2021.

Siona Chisholm of the STFX X-Women is the individual champion of the Atlantic University Sport Subway Cross Country Championship. Chisholm and her X-Women teammates also won the AUS championship banner and trophy in Saturday's 8km race at the Moncton campus.

The STFX X-Men claimed second place overall at the Atlantic University Sport Subway AUS Championship Sunday afternoon. The men's banner was won by the Dalhousie Tigers and Saint Mary’s Andrew Peverill was the individual gold medalist.

Chisholm second overall in interlock meet

The Laval Rouge et Or claimed both team titles Saturday afternoon at the UNB-St. Thomas interlock invitational meet. The X-Women were second overall and the X-Men fourth.

On a course that challenged the runners a bit more than usual, the StFX X-Women and X-Men topped all other teams participating in today’s second AUS Cross Country meet of the season with a sweep in the team standings.

StFX Athletics is pleased to announce that Antigonish, N.S. runner Siona Chisholm as the most recent recipient of the Danny Gallivan Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship is StFX Athletics most prestigious scholarship and is awarded to Canadian male and female varsity athletes who combine qualities of leadership with academic excellence.
