STFX runners compete at U SPORTS championship

Quebec City, QC – The X-Women and X-Men cross country teams competed at the U SPORTS national championship Saturday on the Plains of Abraham, hosted by the Universite de Laval.

The host Laval squads won both national championship team banners.

On the women's side the Laval Rouge et Or earned 35 points, while Western (106) was second and Guelph (119) third.

The X-Women came in seventh place overall with 223 points in the 8km race.  

STFX's top runner was AUS champion Siona Chisholm who came in 13th place, earning U SPORTS second team All-Canadian status with her time of 29:39.1.

The X-Men Cross Country team placed 15th overall at the U SPORTS Championship, earning 459 points. The Laval squad had 62 points for the banner win, followed by Guelph (67) in second and McMaster (79) in third.

Jacob Benoit was the top X-Men runner in 34th place, finishing with a time of 25:43.3. His STFX teammates finished as follows:

88 - Luc Gallant, 27:03.7
100 - Ben Good, 27:22.8
120 - Joel Gallant, 28:39.3
121 - Aidan Doherty, 28:41.9
122 - J. Wierzbicki, 28:43.1
