StFX cross country and track & field alumnus Eric Gillis won the Canadian men's marathon title Sunday in Ottawa, following up on a victory in the Canadian half-marathon last month.

Bryden Tate’s dominance continued in the 10-kilometre at the Scotiabank Blue Nose Marathon. The runner from Heatherton, Antigonish County, completed a three-peat Sunday winning the men’s 10K for a third consecutive year.

A trio of X-Men cross country alumni placed in the top 15 at the recent Montreal half marathon, including the overall race winner Eric Gillis.

The AUS champion StFX X-Men competed at the CIS national championship on Saturday in London, Ont. and placed 11th overall amongst a field of 18 teams and 124 runners.

The Guelph Gryphons will look to resume their domination on Saturday when the top university cross-country runners in the country gather in London, Ont., for the 2013 CIS championships.

Veteran fifth year X-Women runner Melissa Hardy is the AUS cross country women’s individual champion, claiming top spot with a run of 22:52.45 on the 6km course Saturday afternoon in Moncton, N.B. at the Subway AUS cross country championship.

The StFX X-Men are the 2013 AUS cross country champions. The X-Men placed first overall at the Subway AUS championship meet in Moncton, N.B. Saturday afternoon, winning their third consecutive AUS conference banner and sixth in team history.

The X-Women and X-Men cross country teams travelled to Montreal Saturday for the RSEQ interlock meet, hosted in Montreal by UQAM.

X-Women cross country runner Melissa Hardy was honored as the Subway AUS female athlete of the week for the week ending October 6, 2013

The X-Men cross country team won their third consecutive meet of the AUS season this past Saturday in Halifax at the Saint Mary’s/Dalhousie Invitational. The X-Women placed second overall, their same result over three races.

Caroline McIlroy (MUN) and John Kato (SMU) raced to cross country victories at the StFX Invitational Saturday in Antigonish.

The X-Women and X-Men cross country teams opened up the AUS competitive season this past Saturday in Fredericton at the UNB-St. Thomas Open meet.

X-Women cross country runner Alyson Woods is the latest athlete featured in our Getting to Know your X-Women and X-Men series throughout the summer. Alyson recently completed her first year with the X-Women and is a Human Kinetics student from Halifax, NS.

StFX runners had a reunion this past weekend, July 12-14, at the 150th edition of the Antigonish Highland Games. Current and former runners competed in the five mile road race, the elite mile and the track and field competitions which were revived after almost two decades.
