The StFX Group Fitness program includes classes at the Keating Centre Dance Studio. All drop-in classes are free for StFX students! Register online through the self-service portal.
- Book online using the SELF-SERVICE PORTAL
- Book in-person at the Guest Services office (2nd floor Keating Centre, Hospitality Suite C)
- Book via email with fitness@stfx.ca
All participants must register for a class prior to attending. A valid StFX student ID or membership must be presented upon class check-in.
CANCELLATION POLICY
If you cannot attend a pre-booked class, please ensure you cancel your booking to allow others to enjoy the class!
- Cancel your booking up to 2 hours in advance using the Self-Service Portal
- Cancel your booking with a Guest Services staff member in-person, or via email at fitness@stfx.ca (a confirmation email will be sent back)
- Accessible washrooms are located in the Keating Centre foyer
- Public change rooms are currently closed due to the Saputo Centre renovation. Please leave valuables at home.
- There is a water fountain near the vending machines by the auxillary rink, but participants are encouraged to bring their own water bottles
- Before attending a class, please complete the "Get active questionnaire" to see if you should consult a doctor before participating.
- No admittance to group fitness classes once class begins
- No outdoor footwear permitted in the studio
- Pre-registration required (SELF-SERVICE PORTAL - ONLINE BOOKING)
- Current capacity for fitness classes = 15-20
- Group fitness classes will not run on Stat/Civic holidays
DROP-IN CLASS DESCRIPTIONS AND SCHEDULE
BEGINNERS YOGA
Balance strengthening with stretching and relaxation. Excellent for getting back into your practice or recovering from an injury, this class is good for learning and reviewing classic yoga postures
GENTLE YOGA
Whether you are trying yoga for the first time, or you are an enthusiast of the practice, this class is great for you
HATHA YOGA
Hatha focuses on breathing, controlled movements and mediation. The gentle pace allows for moments of exploring what needs attention inside your body, mind and heart
YIN YOGA
Yin is a quieter side of yoga. Poses are held for several minutes and are done either seated or laying down. Yin allows the body to sense and release. Let go of everything; all the tension, all the tightness, and melt into a long-held yin pose.
FULL BODY CIRCUIT
A circuit-based class aimed at targeting your whole body through using a range of both strength and cardio based exercises. Come out and listen to some great tunes, meet new people and get your sweat on with us! All fitness levels are welcome.
RESISTANCE
Resistance is a functional fitness workout utilizing a variety of strength equipment, such as resistance bands, dumbbells, med balls & barbells, for a total body workout. The program also includes core strength and cardiovascular training via circuits & HITT.
DANCE FITNESS
A non-judgmental environment where you can let loose from the stressful day by feeling the music and finding your confidence, all while getting a good sweat!! This full body workout incorporates simple strength training exercises while letting the beat take over your body through fun dance moves!
STRENGTH AND STRETCH
A full-body workout designed to help improve muscular strength, technique and range of motion. Equipment used includes dumbbells and a mat. All fitness levels welcome.
PUMP UP
There is no better way to Pump Up your mind, muscles and heart rate than with this 45-minute cardio and strength class. This class incorporates weight training routines while adding a step inspired twist, you're bound to leave smiling. All fitness levels welcome
