WOLFVILLE, NS — STFX defeated Acadia 3-1 in AUS men's soccer action on Sunday afternoon at Raymond Field in front of 415 fans.
Samuel Barrowcliffe (Princeton, ON) opened the scoring for the X-Men 24 minutes into the first half, with an assist from Kyle Cordeiro (Oakville, ON). That 1-0 lead hedl until halftime.
Luke Green (Fall River, NS) extended the STFX lead in the second half, scoring on a pass from Noah MacIntyre (Georgetown, ON) in the 67th minute.
Isaac VanWychen (Middle Musquodoboit, NS) added a third goal for STFX, assisted by Myroslav Zastavnyy (Toronto, ON) late in the game in the 83rd minute.
Acadia's lone goal came a minute later as an own goal by the X-Men.
STFX dominated with 28 shots to Acadia's nine. X-Men goalkeeper Samuel Diltz (Newmarket, ON) made five saves, while Acadia's Connor Burns (Halifax, NS) stopped 14 shots.
Jabu Deng (Halifax, NS) was named the Axemen player of the game, while VanWychen was the X-Men player of the game.
Acadia (1-4-2) now hosts UNB (2-4-1) on Friday night before heading to Charlottetown on Sunday to face UPEI (2-4-1). STFX hosts Saint Mary's (6-2-0) on Saturday and Memorial (3-2-1) on Sunday.
