X-Men earn weekend split with Sea-Hawks after 3-1 win

St.John's, NL - The U SPORTS No. 6 ranked STFX X-Men defeated the Memorial Sea-Hawks 3-1 on Sunday afternoon at King George V stadium in Atlantic University Sport (AUS) men's soccer action.   

The X-Men avenged a 2-1 loss to the same Sea-Hawks squad yesterday, coming away with a weekend split of games.

Felly Elonda opened the scoring for the home team Sea-Hawks midway through the first half, scoring his second of the season.

STFX's Samuel Barrowcliffe (Princeton, ON) answered with a game tying goal in the 42nd minute. The X-Men followed with another shortly after from Logan Rieck (Cambridge, ON) right at the end of the half to put them up 2-1 going into the half time break.

X-Men midfielder Rieck added a second goal in the 67th minute to put the visitors up 3-1 and close out the victory.

STFX midfielder Max Bodurtha (Halifax, NS) received Subway Player of the Game honours for his outstanding efforts in the game.

The X-Men (5-1-0) will be back in action on Thursday, October 6th at 7pm in Sydney, NS facing the Cape Breton Capers, while the Memorial Seahawks will enjoy the Thanksgiving break and will be on the road again October 15th to play the UNB Reds.
