The X-Men soccer team earned their third win of the season with a 3-2 victory in Halifax Sunday afternoon over the Saint Mary’s Huskies.
\r\nFreshman midfielder Kareem Henry scored a hat trick for the X-Men who came back twice in the game to pull off the win. All three Henry goals, and the two Huskies goals came in the second half.
\r\nJohnny MacNeil opened the scoring in the game for Saint Mary’s in the 54th minute. Henry’s first goal for X was scored in the 64th minute, his first touch of the ball after being substituted into the game.
\r\nMacNeil then scored again in the 71st minute for SMU and the goal exchange continued as Henry notched his second goal of the game six minutes later, establishing the 2-2 tie. His game winner came in the 80th minute.
\r\nThe win broke a five game winless streak for the X-Men and improved their record to 3-4-2. They currently have 11 points and are in fifth place in the AUS standings.
\r\nThe win also came on the heels of a 4-0 loss at home on Friday evening to the Cape Breton Capers on a cold and rainy night at StFX Oland Stadium.
\r\nNext on the schedule is a pair of home games on Oct. 23-24. On Saturday the X-Men will host the Dalhousie Tigers (6-0-3) at 3:15 pm followed by a re-match with the Huskies (2-5-3) on Sunday at 3:15.
