X-Men play to 91-77 victory over Tigers
The STFX X-Men picked up where they left off prior to the holiday break and continued their winning ways in 2025, defeating the Dalhousie Tigers 91-77
Halifax, NS - The STFX X-Men picked up where they left off prior to the holiday break and continued their winning ways in 2025, defeating the Dalhousie Tigers 91-77 at the Dalplex on Wednesday night.
The X-Men got out to a 26-17 lead after the first quarter of play.
Both teams scored 26 points in the second frame, bringing the halftime score to 52-43 in favor of STFX.
The visitors outscored the Tigers by a slim 18-17 margin in the third quarter, extending their lead to 70-60. STFX was able to maintain their advantage, winning the fourth quarter 21-22 and securing the victory.
X-Men guard DJ Jackson lead all scorers in the game with 22 points, adding 7 rebounds and 7 assists.
Gatluak James contributed a double-double with 16 points and 9 rebounds, and Bennett Grumbach added 18 points off the X bench, shooting 4-for-9 from beyond the arc.
Gabe Damey was the top scorer for Dalhousie with 25 points and 8 rebounds. Jayden Parker added 16 points and Caleb Stewart contributed 10 points off the Tigers bench.
The X-Men out-rebounded the Tigers 50-34.
This win improves the X-Men's season record to 10-1, while the Tigers fall to 3-8.
The teams are scheduled for a rematch on Friday, January 10th in Antigonish as the X-Men will host an 8:00 pm tip-off on Coach K Court.
