X-Men tame Tigers in 74-62 win

Antigonish, NS – The STFX X-Men snapped a three-game losing skid with a 74-62 victory over the Dalhousie Tigers on Coach K Court Friday night.

Deon Ejim (Brampton, ON) earned player of the game honours in scoring a game-high 23 points for the X-Men. He rounded out a double-double night with 14 rebounds and also had 3 assists, 3 stelas and a block.

Dondre Reddick (Antigonish, NS) netted 18 points for X and contributed 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals, while Gatluak James (Windsor, ON) scored 12 and hauled in 7 rebounds.

On the other side, Samuel Maillet (Moncton, NB) was the Tigers player of the game as he led his squad with 16 points on the night and had 4 rebounds, 5 assists and a pair of steals. Malcolm Christie (Fredericton, NB) scored 15.

The game started with the X-Men getting out to a 27-16 lead after the first quarter of play. The second quarter was tighter as the Tigers edged the X-Men 23-22 but the home squad took a 10 point lead into the intermission break, up 49-39.

Ejim scored 14 of his points in the opening half and Reddick had 13. Christie netted 13 in the first half and Maillet 12.

The third quarter was a low scoring affair, with the X-Men scoring 12 points to DAL's 8 as they held a 61-47 lead through three.

The blue and white did not relinquish their lead for the remainder of the game on route to the 74-62 victory.

The Tigers will be back in action on Sunday afternoon when they host the UPEI Panthers in a 4:00 pm game at Dalplex.

The X-Men next take to the court on Friday, November 24th when they travel to Halifax to take on the Saint Mary's Huskies.
