X-Men drop game to Gee Gees

Kelowna, BC – In their second game at the UBCO Fall Classic, the STFX X-Men fell to the Ottawa Gee Gees by a 90-66 score.

Ottawa got out to a 24-13 lead after the first quarter of play. In a close scoring second quarter, the X-Men outscored the Gee Gees by a slim 18-17 margin as they trailed 41-33 at halftime.

Deon Ejim scored 9 points in the opening half for X, while Gatluak James and Koat Thomas each contributed six points apiece.

Justin Ndjock-Tadjore led the Gee Gees with 12 first half points.

Ottawa played a strong third quarter, scoring 28 points to STFX's 18 as they increased their lead to 69-51 after 30 minutes of play.

The X-Men were unable to overcome the deficit in the final quarter as Ottawa played out the win.

Ndjock-Tadjore finished with a game-high 23 points for the Gees Gees and had 6 rebounds.

James had a double-double night for the X-Men, scoring 13 points and hauling in 10 rebounds. Ejim scored 11 and had 7 rebounds. Thomas had 8 points on the night.

The X-Men will be back in action Sunday for their final tournament game against the host UBCO Heat. Game time is 1:00 PDT and will be webcast on Canada West TV.
