The X-Men got out to a 21-17 lead after the first quarter, then held the Axemen to another 17 points in the second frame as they outpaced them scoring 32 points, to go up 53-34 at halftime.

David Muenkat (Brampton, ON) scored 10 points in the first half for STFX and Dondre Reddick (Antigonish, NS) netted 10. Alex Muise (Halifax, NS) had eight for Acadia in the opening half, including a pair of three-point shots.

STFX held the Axemen to 13 points in the third quarter as they built up a 77-47 lead after three.

The deficit was too much for the Axemen to overcome as the X-Men cruised through the fourth quarter on route to the win.

Muenkat, the Subway player of the game, had a double-double night with 20 points and 11 rebounds and also had a pair of blocks.

Reddick finished with 18 points and added four steals, while Antoine Vernon (Hamilton, ON) netted 17 and contributed six assists and a pair of steals.

Also in double scoring digits for the X-Men was Avan Nava (Mississauga, ON) with 13 and Bennett Grumbach (Toronto, ON) with 11.

Acadia player of the game Miguel Perez Boskovic (Santa Cruz de Tenefire, Spain) scored 10 points on the night, while Muise, Demeric Mercer (Halifax, NS) and Thomas MacDonald (Rothesay, NB) each scored eight.

The same two teams will be back in action on Saturday night as they meet for home and home games this week, tipping off in Wolfville, NS at 8:00 pm.
