X-Men basketball welcomes Nova Scotia native Jaxon Smith

Antigonish, NS— StFX X-Men basketball head coach Steve Konchalski is pleased to welcome Jaxon Smith to the X-Men program for the 2019-20 season.

The six-foot guard is a native of Halifax, N.S. playing out of Citadel High School in Halifax. Coach Konchalski comments, "Jaxon Smith has not only been part of the X-Men basketball family since his days as a basketball camper, he is a proven winner as he led his Nova Scotia provincial team to national gold at both the U15 and U17 levels. He does all the little things to help his team win that every coach knows are essential to a winning program."

At Citadel High School, Smith averaged 17 points, eight rebounds, six assists and two steals per game this year. In the summer of 2016 he led the Nova Scotia U15 team to a gold medal performance and was selected as a first team all-star at the national tournament. This past summer he was a starter and captain of the Nova Scotia U17 team which also captured a gold medal at nationals.

Jaxon is the brother of current X-Man guard Jaydan Smith and the son of former X-Men All-Canadian Wade Smith.
