Halifax, NS - The Dalhousie Tigers beat the StFX X-Men 82-67 on Friday night at the Dalplex in AUS men's basketball action. Dalhousie found success with a balanced attack as all five starters recorded double-digit points.

Jarred Reid came out firing in the first quarter, scoring the first nine points for the Tigers. The X-Men managed to keep pace as Davonte Provo had five of his own points in the opening frame.

Provo hit two free throws in the final seconds of the quarter to give the X-Men a 16-15 lead after the first quarter.

Both teams started to get hot in the second quarter as the scoring picked up on either side of the court.  The X-Men managed to hold the lead for the first five minutes of the second quarter until Sven Stammberger hit a three ball to put the Tigers up 28-25.

Just two possessions later, Stammberger was at it again hitting his second three ball in as many tries, giving the Tigers a 33-29 lead.

The X-Men trailed 37-34 at the half.

Tristen Ross looked good for the X-Men hitting jumpers from all over the court with 12 point on 5-8 shooting in the opening half.

After a tightly contested first half, the Tiger opened the game in the second. Point guard Ritchie Kanza Mata seemed to have a touch on every basket whether it was as a distributor or a finisher.

Kanza Mata got things rolling for Dalhousie, hitting a three in the early stages of the third quarter, putting the Tigers up 42-36.

Kevin Bercy had a huge dunk for the X-Men cutting the deficit to 45-38, which slowed the Tigers momentum, but not for long. The Tigers continued to fire on all cylinders as Kashrell Lawrence closed out the third quarter with a buzz beater, putting Dalhousie up 60-47.

The Tigers lead was never in question in the fourth quarter as Coach Plato's team cruised to an 82-67 victory.

Reid led the Tigers with 15 points while Kanza Mata recorded a double-double with 10 assists and 13 points. On the X-Men side it was Bercy with 18 points and 7 rebounds.

Dalhousie (6-3) will travel to UNB (4-4) next weekend for a two game set while StFX (1-6) hosts the Varsity Reds Saturday night at 8:00 pm.
