Fourth quarter run lifts Huskies to win over X-Men

After playing three close quarters, a 13-4 run by the Saint Mary's Huskies to open the fourth quarter sparked them to a 96-82 victory over the StFX X-Men in AUS basketball Friday night in Halifax.

The Huskies hit a trio of three-pointers in that fourth quarter drive to increase the 63-61 lead they held after three quarters.

Theon Reefer with 23 points, and Riley Halpin with 22 led the Huskies offense. Terrence Taylor had a double-double night with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

The X-Men got out to a 21-14 first quarter lead then the Huskies held a slim 37-36 edge at halftime.

Veteran guard Will Donkoh led the X-Men in scoring with 20 points while Jordan Clarke scored 16. Julius Antoine contributed 11 points off the bench and Kevin Bercy added 10. Rod Madera led the X-Men in rebounding with eight.

With the loss the X-Men drop to 5-4 on the season. They will host the Cape Breton Capers (3-5) Tuesday evening, Jan. 14th at the StFX Oland Centre in an 8:00 pm match-up.
