Saturday St. FX 105 Memorial 87
The St. FX X-Men pulled away in the second quarter en route to a 105-87 victory against the Sea~Hawks on Saturday night at the Field House.

Terry Thomas gave Steve Konchalski’s team a big spark off the bench as he drained 26 points on 12 of 15 shooting to earn HITS FM Player of the Game honors for the winners. Charlie Spurr continued his solid season with 16 points for the winners.

On the Memorial side, the Sea~Hawks had a pair of players top the 20 point mark as Jason Shepherd had 21 and Robbie Habib added 20. Mark Woodland added 15 for MUN.

Memorial held the lead until midway through the first quarter until Thomas caught fire to extend the St. FX lead to five at the end of the first quarter.

The Sea~Hawks bench sparked a good fourth quarter run that cut the X lead to under 20 points. Justin Grainger and Matt Cleary both hit a couple of shots each in the fourth.

St. FX’s Alberto Rodriguez was forced to leave the game with an apparent head injury in the third quarter and did not return to action for the remainder of the weekend.

At halftime the score was 61-32 for the X-Men.

The shooting woes continued in the second half for the Sea~Hawks as they were outscored 33-18 in the third quarter. St. FX was absolutely on fire from long range, hitting 10-16 attempts in the second half, while the home team shot a dismal 1-12.
