X-Men Sweep Weekend

The StFX X-Men went 2-0 over the weekend, knocking off the UPEI Panthers 90-64 and the Acadia Axemen 104-67.

Led by rookie Terry Thomas on Saturday, the X-Men won in convincing fashion over a the Panthers. Thomas finished the game with 14 points and eight rebounds in 17 minutes of play. The high flying rookie threw down two monstrous dunks that turned the momentum in favor of the X-Men.

Also chipping in for the X-Men was the sharp shooting Charlie Spurr who knocked down three of four attempts from the three-point line, finishing the game with 13 points in just 15 minutes of play. Alberto Rodriguez who had 12 points on 6-of-6 shooting from the field.

In the second game of a back-to-back for the X-Men, the X-Men defeated the Acadia Axemen  by 37 and holding the Axemen to 40% shooting for forty minutes.

Terry Thomas was once again the spark for the X-Men but this game on the defensive end of the floor. Thomas was a crucial part of the X-Men’s trap defense which kept Acadia from crossing half court on three straight possessions. The leading scorers for the X-Men were Christian Upshaw, Jeremy Dunn and Rodrigo Madera all with 12. The X-Men out-rebounded the Axemen 36-27 and forced Acadia to commit 24 turnovers.

Anthony Sears lead the way for Acadia with 23 points.

The X-Men hit the court against Memorial Seahawks at home this weekend. Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 3pm.
