X-Men basketball player Christian ‘T-Bear’ Upshaw and team Canada are 2-0 after preliminary play at the World University Games and have advanced to the second phase of the tournament.

In their second preliminary game against China on July 4th, Canada earned a 100-83 win. Upshaw led the team in assists with & and also scored 5 points and had 2 steals in the game. Click for the game story and for the box score.

With the two wins, Canada clinched top spot in Pool C of the tournament and advances through to the second phase where they will aim to qualify for the medal round. Their upcoming schedule features games against Russia and Israel on July 6th and 7th, respectively. The quarterfinals are slated for July 9th, the semi-finals on July 10th and the championship and bronze medal games on July 11th.
