Houde, Oragui, McGill and Nwaogu to compete in U SPORTS East-West Bowl
Four X-Men will be representing STFX at the annual East-West Bowl game this May in Waterloo, Ont.
Four X-Men will be representing STFX at the annual East-West Bowl game this May in Waterloo, Ont. Receiver Zachary Houde, offensive lineman Chidera Oragui and defensive linemen Otito Nwaogu and David McGill have been selected to compete for the East team. All four recently completed their third year of eligibility with the X-Men program. X-Men Offensive Coordinator Dave Van denHeuvel will be an offensive line coach for the East team for the game.
Zachary Houde is a 6'1", 183-pound receiver from Thetford Mines, Que. and is a fourth year Aquatic Resources student. He led the AUS conference in receiving, averaging 101.0 yards/game despite playing in only four regular season games as he was sidelined with an injury for the latter half of the season. He averaged 20.2 yards/reception this season with 20 catches for 404 yards and one touchdown. Houde was a 2022 and 2023 AUS offensive all-star.
Chidera Oragui is a 6'5", 300-pound offensive lineman from Halifax, N.S., in his third year in the Bachelor of Science program at STFX. He started in six games for the X-Men this past season, leading at left tackle.
David McGill is a 6'3", 302-pound defensive lineman from Powassan, Ont. and is a fourth year Public Policy & Governance student. A 2024 AUS all-star, he started in all eight games for the X-Men, recording 27.0 tackles on the season, including 16 solo tackles. He had one sack and three tackles for a loss to his credit.
Otito Nwaogu is a 6'1", 229-pound defensive lineman from London, Ont. and is a sixth year Human Kinetics student. Starting in all eight games in 2024, he recorded 10.5 tackles on the season, including seven solo tackles.

The University of Waterloo will host the 2025 East-West Bowl on Saturday, May 10, at 12:30 p.m. ET at Warrior Field.
The event features the top 106 Canadian university football players eligible for the 2026 CFL Draft as they look to showcase their skills to coaches, general managers, and personnel from the Canadian Football League. A minimum of three players in their third or fourth year from each of the 27 U SPORTS football programs will attend the game.
The event will also feature a CFL Free Agent Camp (Tuesday, May 6), Kids Fun Camp (Wednesday, May 7) and the East-West Bowl Coaches Clinic on May 9 and 10.
"The Waterloo Warriors, with the support of our Athletic Department, and our football program are excited for the opportunity to host this annual weeklong all-star event for the second year in a row, our goal will be to make it an even better event than last years," said Warriors head coach Chris Bertoia. "Our intent is for U SPORTS football student-athletes and coaches to once again have an outstanding experience at the University of Waterloo."
Michael Faulds, head coach of the Uteck Bowl and Yates Cup champion Laurier Golden Hawks, will lead Team West, while Cherif Nicolas, who guided Bishop's Gaiters to a Loney Bowl title, will take charge of Team East.

East-West Free-Agent Camp
The annual East-West CFL Free Agent Camp will take place Tuesday May 6 from 6:00pm – 9:30pm at the Feridun Hamdullahpeur Fieldhouse on the campus of the University of Waterloo. This camp is open to any player Canadian, American, and Global player who is classified as a free agent (Canadians past their draft year). CFL teams will be present for evaluation and all testing results will be shared with all CFL clubs.
Testing will include: 40 Yard Sprint, Shuttle (5-10-5), Broad Jump and Bench followed by Indy Positional Drills and concluding with 1 on 1's (Padded – Helmet & Shoulder Pads).
