Fagnan and Harrington receive AUS football athlete of the week honours

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Name: Silas Fagnan
University: STFX
Position: Quarterback
Hometown: Bonnyville, Alta.
Year of eligibility: Fourth
Academic program: Human Kinetics
Height and Weight: 6'2, 200 lbs.

STFX quarterback Silas Fagnan is the Atlantic University Sport Football Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 13, 2024.

The fourth-year pivot from Alberta covered a lot of ground, by land and by air, as he led his X-Men to a 46-0 victory over the Acadia Axemen this past weekend. Fagnan connected on 30-of-38 pass attempts for 321 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while also rushing for 57 yards and a touchdown on seven carries.

Fagnan is second in the AUS in yards passing (1,638), touchdowns thrown (9) and rushing touchdowns (5).

This weekend, Fagnan's X-Men will march into Mount Allison to take on the host Mounties on Saturday, Oct. 19. Game time is slated for 2 p.m. ADT.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Name: Matthew Schill
University: Saint Mary's University
Position: Linebacker
Hometown: Indian Head, Sask.
Year of eligibility: Fourth
Academic program: Commerce
Height and weight: 6'3, 225 lbs.

Saint Mary's Huskies linebacker Matthew Schill is the Atlantic University Sport Football Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 13, 2024.

Schill did a bit of everything in his team's 15-8 victory over the Mount Allison Mounties this past weekend. The Commerce student had seven combined tackles, including a pair of sacks and three tackles for loss.

He also recorded a forced fumble and fumble recovery.

The Huskies will have this weekend off before finishing their AUS regular season schedule on Saturday, Oct. 26 against the host STFX X-Men.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Name: Ben Harrington
University: STFX
Position: Receiver
Hometown: Dartmouth, NS
Year of eligibility: Fourth
Academic program: Business Administration
Height and weight: 6'2, 181 lbs.

STFX return man Ben Harrington is the Atlantic University Sport Football Special Teams Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 13, 2024.

Harrington, a Business student from Dartmouth, NS had five punt returns for 59 yards (averaging 11.8 yards per return) as his X-Men blanked the Acadia Axemen 46-0 this past weekend.

Harrington also had one kickoff return for 20 yards.

The X-Men will take to the road this weekend as they meet the host Mount Allison Mounties on Saturday. Kick off is set for 2 p.m. ADT.
