Fagnan, Turnsek and Taylor earn Football athlete of the week honours to close out regular season

Pita Pit X-Men Football Offensive Athlete of the Week

X-Men quarterback Silas Fagnan was named the StFX Football Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 30, 2022. Silas, a fourth year Arts student from Bonnyville, Alta. was 21 for 29 in passing for 303 total yards in the X-Men's 31-13 win over MtA Saturday to finish 8-0 on the season. Silas threw two TD passes from 33 and 63 yards out, and scored a two-yard TD rush himself. He also had eight rushes in the game for 60 yards. Silas led the AUS conference in passing this season, averaging 241.6 yards/game (138-233, 1933 total yards).

Pita Pit X-Men Football Defensive Athlete of the Week

X-Men defensive back Jay Turnsek was named the StFX Football Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 30, 2022. Jay, a fourth year Science student from North Bay, Ont. made an impact on the X-Men defense in their 31-13 win over Mount A on Saturday. Jay had three total tackles in the game, including two solo tackles, along with a key interception which he returned for two yards as the X-Men finished 8-0 on the season. Jay recorded 16.5 total tackles this year.

Pita Pit X-Men Football Special Teams Athlete of the Week

X-Men linebacker Zach Taylor was named the StFX Football Special Teams Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 30, 2022. Zach, a third year Human Kinetics student from Nanaimo, BC, was dominant throughout the game for the X-Men Saturday in their 37-13 win over Mount A, to close the season undefeated at 8-0. Zach played every special team and had three solo special teams tackles in the game, and four total. He finished the season with 11.5 total tackles.
