Bussey, Fedchun and Taylor named football athletes of the week

Pita Pit X-Men Football Offensive Player of the Week
X-Men running back Malcolm Bussey was named the StFX Football Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 11, 2022. Malcolm, a second year Human Kinetics student from Hammonds Plains, NS scored the X-Men's only touchdown of the game in a 24-10 win over Acadia on Saturday. His one-yard TD run came late in the 2nd quarter to give X a key 21-3 lead heading into halftime. Malcolm had 23 carries in the game for 153 total yards, averaging 6.7 yards/carry. He leads the AUS in rushing early in the season averaging 136.0 yards/game.

Pita Pit X-Men Football Defensive Player of the Week
X-Men defensive lineman Alex Fedchun was named the StFX Football Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 11, 2022. Alex, a fifth year Human Kinetics student from Calgary, AB led the X-Men defense with 6.5 tackles in their 24-10 win over Acadia on Saturday. Four of those were solo tackles and he also had 1.5 tackles for a loss of 6 yards, including a sack. Alex had a forced fumble & recovery in game as he now sits in the top 5 in AUS tackling with 14 on the season. 

Pita Pit X-Men Football Special Teams Player of the Week
X-Men linebacker Zach Taylor was named the StFX Football Special Teams Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 11, 2022. Zach, a third year Human Kinetics student from Nanaimo, B.C. had great coverage on special teams in the X-Men's 24-10 victory over Acadia on Saturday. He had two tackles while on special teams coverage, and provided excellent blocking on the returns teams as the X-Men improved to 2-0 on the season, tied for first place.
