Fagnan & Mastin receive AUS football athlete of the week honours

Offensive Player of the Week
Name: Silas Fagnan
University: St. Francis Xavier University
Position: Quarterback

StFX X-Men quarterback Silas Fagnan is the Atlantic University Sport football offensive player of the week for the week ending October 3, 2021. 

The third-year arts student from Bonnyville, Alberta was crucial to the X-Men's 32-29 homecoming win over the Bishop's Gaiters on Saturday afternoon. Fagnan completed 22-of-40 attempts for 290 passing yards and three touchdowns, including a 31-yard strike with 54 seconds remaining to secure the come-from-behind victory for StFX.  

Fagnan also picked up 56 yards rushing on nine attempts, including a 1-yard TD score in the first quarter and added a successful two-point conversion pass. He currently leads the AUS in passing, with an average of 300.5 yards/game and 5 TD passes.

Name: Ethan Mastin
University: St. Francis Xavier University
Position: Defensive Back
Hometown: Chilliwack, BC
Year of eligibility: Fourth
Academic program: Bachelor of Science
Height and weight: 6'0", 180lbs  

StFX X-Men defensive back Ethan Mastin has been named the AUS football defensive player of the week for the week ending October 3, 2021.  

The fourth-year science student from Chilliwack, BC made several key defensive plays in the X-Men's exciting 32-29 win over Bishop's Gaiters on Saturday at home, earning Subway Player of the Game honours for his efforts.  

Mastin had two interceptions in the win, a forced fumble and blocked a field goal attempt in the second quarter. He also added one solo tackle in the game. Mastin's two interceptions tie him for the most in the conference this season.

University:  Acadia University
Position: Defensive Back / Kicker
Hometown: Moncton, New Brunswick
Year of eligibility: Third
Academic program: Bachelor of Arts
Height and weight: 5'10", 180 lbs  

Acadia University's Ben George is the AUS football special teams player of the week for the week ending October 3, 2021.  

A third-year arts student from Moncton, New Brunswick, George accounted for eight of the Axemen's 14 points in a 14-7 road win at Saint Mary's, with a pair of field goals, a convert and a rouge. His two made field goals came from 24 and 37 yards out respectively. 

George also averaged 38.7 yards on 12 punts Saturday afternoon, including a long punt of 48 yards and one downed inside the 20-yard line.
