Green, Dalloul & Alix football athletes of the week

X-Men running back James Green was named the StFX Football Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 15, 2009. James, a fifth year Arts student from Halifax, NS, led the X-Men in rushing yards in their disappointing 31-22 loss to Saint Mary’s in the AUS Loney Bowl championship game. He had 31 carries in the game for a net rushing total of 152 yards. James is a 2008 CIS second team All-Canadian and finishes his stellar five year career as the X-Men all-time career leading rusher with 2304 yards.

X-Men defensive lineman Yahia Dalloul was named the StFX Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 15, 2009. Yahia, a first year Education student (in his 5th year eligibility) from Halifax, NS was a leader on the X-Men defense in their recent 31-22 loss to Saint Mary’s in the AUS Loney Bowl championship game. Yahia came back from recent injuries and led all StFX tacklers with 5 in the game (4 solo and 2 assisted tackles). He was also in on a tackle for loss play. His veteran experience on defense will be missed as he finishes his five-year career with the X-Men.

X-Men kicker/punter Anthony Alix was named the StFX Football Special Teams Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 15, 2009. Anthony, a first year Arts student from Mont-Tremblant, QC booted three field goals in the X-Men’s recent 31-22 loss to Saint Mary’s in the AUS Loney Bowl championship game. Anthony also had 7 punts for 248 total yards and 3 kickoffs for 193 yards in the game. This is the third consecutive week Anthony has earned StFX Special Teams Player of the Week honors.
