Guest, Annan & Ziter earn football Athlete of the Week honors

X-Men wide receiver Nic Guest was named the StFX Football Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 25, 2009. Nic, a fourth year Science student from Saint John, NB, led all X-Men receivers in total yards and catches on Friday night in their disappointing 42-7 loss to Saint Mary’s. Nic had 9 receptions for a total of 89 yards on the evening. Nic is currently averaging 3.71 receptions per game and 54.1 reception yards per game.  He has 26 total receptions on the season.

X-Men football defensive lineman Nate Annan was named the StFX Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 25, 2009. Nate, a first year Business student from St. Thomas, ON played a strong game on defense for the X-Men despite losing 42-7 to Saint Mary’s this past Friday. Nate had 3 solo tackles in the game and also had a quarterback sack. He currently has 12 tackles on the season, averaging 2.4 tackles per game, and has 3 sacks to his credit, playing well on the X-Men defensive line in his rookie season.

X-Men defensive back Pat Ziter was named the StFX Football Special Teams Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 25, 2009. Pat, a third year Arts student from Windsor, ON played very well for the X-Men on the kick-off return team in their disappointing 42-7 loss to Saint Mary’s in Halifax Friday night. Pat had a key block and played consistently on special teams all game. Pat is in his first year of eligibility with the X-Men.
