Jim Shea suited up for three seasons with the X-Men football team from 1964 to 1966. An outstanding athlete, Jim played both sides of the ball in the offensive tackle position and as a linebacker. He was the top offensive lineman in the Atlantic Football Conference in both 1965 and 1966. The X-Men football squad won the Atlantic Bowl championship in each of the three years Jim was part of the team. Further, in 1966, he co-captained the team to a Vanier Cup national championship victory. Jim was an all-around student-athlete recognized as the outstanding StFX male athlete of the year as the Larkin Trophy recipient in 1967.
