X-Men take second place at AUS championship

St. John's, NF – The STFX X-Men ran to a second place team finish at the 2024 Atlantic University Sport championship race Saturday afternoon at Confederation Hill.
With 50 points, the X-Men came in second spot after the first place UNB REDS who tallied 23. Dalhousie was third with 63 points.
UNB's Jared Howse improved on his second place performance the last two seasons by being the first to cross the tape this year, finishing the 8km loop in a time of 24:53.
Last year's winner, Dalhousie's Jacob Benoit was second with a time of 25:17. Howse's UNB teammate, William Boyle was third at 25:34.
The top STFX finisher was Joel Gallant in seventh place, nabbing the final AUS first team all-star selection. He crossed the line with a 26:04 result.
Four X-Men earned AUS second team all-star status with Liam McCullagh (26:11) coming eighth, Griffin Gable (26:17) in 10th, Brett King (26:21) in 11th and Luke MacDonald (26:46) in 14th.
Rounding out the STFX results were Conlan MacKenzie (27:43) in 20th and Liam Patterson (27:57) in 21st. There were a total of 48 racers in the 8km event.
In the tram standings the host Memorial Sea-Hawks were fourth with 119 points, followed by UPEI (138), Moncton (183) and Saint Mary's (185).
