StFX runners compete in Charlottetown

Charlottetown, PE – StFX runners competed on a wet day in PEI on Saturday afternoon at the UPEI Invitational.

A total of four X-Women and two X-Men rans the races, not enough to qualify for team placings.

In the women's 6K race featuring 32 racers, Tanna Burke was the top finisher in 8th place, followed closely by her teammate Lauren Liem. Kali Beaton placed 13th and Bridget Keedwell was 16th for the X-Women. (Note: women's race times were unavailable by UPEI at press time)

Acadia was the top women's team with 19 points, followed by Moncton (56) and Saint Mary's (63).

In the men's 8K race, fourth year X-Men runner Addison Derhak topped the field of 27 competitors, coming in first place with a time of 26:49. Eric Knight came 9th for the X-Men at 29:05.

The host UPEI Panthers won the men's team title with 28 points, followed by Moncton (47) and St. Thomas (53).

The StFX squads will next see action at the AUS championship in two weeks. The conference titles will handed out in Fredericton on Saturday, October 26th as UNB hosts. Race times are 12:00 and 12:45 pm.
