The StFX X-Women ran to a 12th place showing at the U SPORTS national championship Saturday in Kingston, Ont.
The X-Women picked up 381 points amongst the 20 teams competing. Dalhousie was the top AUS squad in ninth place with 277 points. Laval (55) were crowned U SPORTS champions, followed by Queen's (62) and Guelph (108).
Rachel MacDougall was the top X-Women to finish the 8k event. She placed 55th overall with a time of 30:47.8. Hana Marmura (30:58.0) was 65th with Zoe Johnston close behind (30:59.9) in 68th. Rounding out the X competitors were Jane Hergett (96th, 31:41.4), Ashley Robson (97th, 31:41.5), Paige Chisholm (115th, 32:09.2) and Catherine Thompson (116th, 32:10.8).
A total of 155 runners competed in the windy course in cold temperatures.

Women's Race: Laval wins first national championship, MacDougall wins individual title in rookie season
KINGSTON, Ont. (U SPORTS) – It was a close race throughout but in the end the Laval Rouge et Or claimed their first U SPORTS Women's Cross Country Championship – becoming the first RSEQ school to capture the banner - on Saturday afternoon at Fort Henry Hill in Kingston, Ont.
Laval finished with two individual medalists as Aurélie Dubé-Lavoie and Catherine Beauchemin claimed the silver and bronze medals individually. Combined with two more All-Canadians in Anne-Marie Comeau and Jessy Lacourse and a 37th place finish from rookie Jade Bérube gave Laval the top spot with a total of 55 points. The Rouge et Or finished seven points ahead of second-place Queen's and 53 points ahead of third-place Guelph.
The host Queen's Gaels, who had been ranked No.1 all season fell just short of the national title with a team total of 62. The individual national champion was Brogan MacDougall ran a 27:48.6 to claim the gold medal. Her sister, Branna, was close behind with a ninth-place finish for the Gaels. Brogan not only finished as the Athlete of the Year but was also the top rookie for the women.
Following the race, the U SPORTS All-Canadians and major award winners were presented and included Lapointe, who took home Coach of the Year honours.
