HALIFAX, NS – The StFX X-Women placed third overall in the team standings at the Subway AUS cross country championship Saturday afternoon at Point Pleasant Park, hosted by Saint Mary's University.

The Dalhousie Tigers claimed their second consecutive AUS championship banner with a first place showing of 16 points. UNB placed second with 59 points and the X-Women scored 69.

Dalhousie's Ellen Chappell was the first place finisher with a time of 22:22.53. She was followed by teammates Colleen Wilson (22:53.42) in second and Britany MacArther (22:54.66) in third. The Tigers took the top four finishes and seven of the top ten spots in the women's 6K race that featured 52 competitors.

The top finisher for StFX was Liz MacDonald in eighth place, who completed the race in a time of 23:38.83. Teammate Leah Gouthro, who also took home the AUS rookie of the year award, was right behind her in ninth position (23:43.59).

Alyson Woods (24:24.26) placed 15^th for the X-Women, while Ginny Anderson (25:19.03) and Kendra MacNeil (25:23.26) were 18^th and 19^th. Rounding out the StFX finishers were Heidi MacDonald (25:44.94) in 23^rd and Maura Gillis (26:20.40) in 31^st.  

The top X-Women finishers will qualify for the CIS national championship scheduled for November 8^th in Saint John's, Nfld and hosted by Memorial University.
