X-Women cross country 4th at StFX Invitational

Antigonish, NS – The X-Women cross country team came out in fourth position at their own StFX Invitational interlock meet Saturday afternoon on the university campus.

The interlock meet attracted 95 intercollegiate runners from 12 AUS and RSEQ schools. Laval took the team title with 35 points, while Dalhousie was second at 41, followed by Sherbrooke (101) and StFX (123).

McGill's Jullien Flynn was the race winner, completing the 6k course in a time of 21:40.60. Sarah Bergeron Larouche from UQTR was second at 21:57.61, followed by Dalhousie's Ellen Chappell at 22:00.48. Laval had runners place fourth through sixth.

StFX's top performer was Liz MacDonald who came 11th overall with a time of 22:42.04. Leah Gouthro was 18th at 22:56.92, while Kendra MacNeil (24:12.59) and Alyson Woods (24:15.56) were 39th and 40th.

Also competing for the X-Women were Ginny Anderson (50th, 25:18.10), Maura Gillis (53rd, 25:29.27), Heidi MacDonald (57th, 25:41.64), Jasmine DeZeeuw (64th, 26:11.48), Teegan Moxam (65th, 26:16.11) and Rachel LeBlanc (78th, 27:24.59).

The X-Women have wrapped up regular season competition and will have a weekend off before competing at the Subway AUS championship on October 25th in Point Pleasant Park in Halifax, hosted by Saint Mary's University.
