X-Men claim second spot at X Invitational

Antigonish, NS – The X-Men cross country team had a strong showing at their own StFX Invitational interlock meet Saturday afternoon on the university campus, placing second amongst 14 teams.

The interlock meet attracted 99 intercollegiate runners from AUS and RSEQ schools. Laval took the team title with 27 points, with the X-Men close behind at 32. Dalhousie was third with 85 points.

Charles Philibert-Thiboutot from Laval was the individual race winner, completing the 8k course in a time of 25:43.76. His teammate Benjamin Raymond was second at 25:36.50.

A pair of X-Men placed third and fourth as there were four members of the blue and white in the top seven. Scott Donald (25:43.76) was third, Lee Wesselius (25:45.62) was fourth, Riley Johnston (25:49.58) was sixth and Bryden Tate (25:52.68) was seventh.

Also competing for the X-Men was Cal DeWolfe who placed 12th overall with a time of 26:26.11. Stuart MacPherson (26:51.58) was 23rd, followed by Nick Favero (30th, 27:10.23), Ryan Hatchard (33rd, 27:18.09) and Ed MacDonald (39th, 27:35.65).

Matt Eliot (28:33.81) was 53rd, while X-Men teammates Ryan O'Regan (61st, 29:09.33), Warren Ferguson (62nd, 29:09.96), Pat Marlow (65th, 29:14.47), Vaughn Saunders (67th, 29:19.78), Ryan Fuller (76th, 30:17.34) and Corey McNamara (79th, 30:58.01) rounded out the X results.

The X-Men have wrapped up regular season competition and will have a weekend off before competing at the Subway AUS championship on October 25th in Point Pleasant Park in Halifax, hosted by Saint Mary's University.
