X-Women finish 3rd at interlock meet

The CIS ranked No. 8 X-Women cross country team competed at the UNB-St. Thomas Invitational interlock meet this past Saturday and ran to a third place team showing.

The X-Women tallied 77 points, behind the top finisher McGill (44) and second place Dalhousie (63). A total of ten teams were represented at the meet with the team standings rounding out as follows:  Laval (82), UNB (90), Memorial (175), Concordia (217), Moncton (224), UQAM (238) and St. Thomas (247).

Melissa Hardy was the top finisher for the X-Women, coming in fourth place overall in the 5k race with a time of 18:23. Frida Aspnaes of UNB won the race in 17:57, followed by Holly VanGestel of Dalhousie at 17:59 and Madeleine Cummings of McGill at 18:21.

Natasha Herron placed sixth for the X-Women with a time of 18:58, while Lynette Manual (19:11) was eighth. At 19:29, Liz O’Connell came in 21st, followed by teammates Christina LeGay (19:37) in 26th and Kathryn Tuck (19:43) in 28th to round out the top six finishers for StFX.

Also competing for the X-Women were Jessica White (19:50), Alexa Zarins (19:56), Sarah Deveau (20:21) and Kendra MacNeil (20:52) in the race that featured 84 runners.

The X-Women have now wrapped up AUS regular season competition and will focus on the upcoming Subway AUS championship scheduled for Saturday, October 27th in Halifax as the Dalhousie Tigers host.
