X-Women first at Acadia meet

The X-Women cross country team ran to their third consecutive first place finish in as many meets this season as they took the team title at the Acadia Invitational on Saturday.

StFX finished with 21 points, bettering second place UNB (66) and third place Acadia (90). Moncton (99), St. Thomas (107) and Saint Mary’s (149) rounded out the team standings.

The top individual finisher in the race for the X-Women was Natalie Kannenberg who placed third overall with a time of 19:16 in the 5k event. Frida Aspnaes from UNB won the race in 18:53, followed by Holly VanGestel of Dalhousie at 19:03.

X-Women runners placed third through sixth place. Melissa Hardy was fourth at 19:21, followed by Natasha Herron (19:51) and Lynette Manual (20:06). Rounding out the top finishers for StFX were Christina LeGay (20:27) in ninth, Jessica White (21:16) in 11th, Kathryn Tuck (21:32) in 13th, Kendra MacNeil (21:43) in 15th and Sarah Deveau (21:48) in 16th.

A total of 35 runners competed in the third meet on the AUS schedule. Next up for the X-Women is the UNB Invitational in Fredericton on Saturday, October 13th.
