X-Women run to first place in Moncton

The X-Women cross country team started off the AUS season on a winning note, running to a first place finish at the opening meet in Moncton Saturday afternoon.

The X-Women tallied 25 points in the first place showing, ahead of second place Dalhousie (48) and third place UNB (71). Moncton placed fourth with 129 points, followed by Acadia (133) and St. Thomas (137).

Melissa Hardy was the top StFX finisher, running to a second place finish in the 5k race in a time of 17:51. Teammate Natalie Kannenberg was right behind her in third place at 17:52 and Natasha Herron finished fourth at 18:21. The overall race winner was Freida Aspnaes (17:31) from UNB.

The full X-Women team competed in the meet. Liz O’Connell (18:43) placed sixth, Alexa Zarins (18:54) was 10th and Lynette Manual (19:04) was 11th. A total of 51 runners competed. The remaining results from the X-Women were as follows.

The X-Women will host the next meet on the AUS schedule this Saturday, September 22nd. Start time is 12:00 pm on the StFX course.
