X-Men run to third consecutive win

The X-Men cross country team ran to their third consecutive first place finish in as many meets this season as they took the team title at the Acadia Invitational on Saturday.

The X-Men finished with 17 points for the win, followed by Moncton with 69, and UNB in third place with 84. Saint Mary’s (91) and St. Thomas (100) rounded out the team standings.

The top X-Men finisher was Riley Johnston in second place, who came down to the wire with the race winner Graham MacDonald from Memorial. Both runners clocked a 27.30 chip time but the first place finish went to MacDonald.

Zach MacDonald of the X-Men was third overall at 27:49. X-Man Connor McGuire, who won the previous two AUS races, did not run at Acadia. Nor did freshman Lee Wessilius or Scott Donald.

Stephen Deering (27:50) and Aaron Doucette (27:58) were the next StFX runners to cross the finish line as they placed fourth and fifth, respectively. Dennis Kayumba (28:23) was eighth, followed by Stuart MacPherson (29:25) and Brandon MacDonald (29:37) in 10th and 11th positions amidst the 35 competitors.

Next on the schedule for the X-Men is the UNB Invitational in Fredericton on Saturday, October 13th.
