X-Men runners 1st at opening meet

The X-Men cross country team won the opening AUS meet of the season. Connor McGuire helped lead StFX to a first place showing in Moncton this past Saturday as he was the overall race winner.

The X-Men garnered 20 points in the first place finisher, ahead of second place Dalhousie (59) and third place UNB (95). Saint Mary’s was third (110), followed by Moncton (119) and St. Thomas (152).

McGuire’s race winning time in the 8k event was 24:50. Two freshmen teammates followed him in second and third places. Lee Wasselius was second overall with a time of 24:56 and Scott Donald was third in 24:59.

The next X-Man to cross the line was Riley Johnston in sixth place at 25:19. Ryan Hatchard (25:29) was eighth, followed by Bryden Tate (25:30) in ninth. Nine more StFX runners competed in Moncton and finished as follows.

StFX will be hosting the next meet on the AUS schedule this coming Saturday, September 22nd. The women’s 5k race goes at 12pm followed by the men’s race at 12:45 pm on the StFX campus course.
