Tigers outrun X-Women
The X-Women cross country team ran to a second place team showing Saturday afternoon in Halifax at the Dalhousie Invitational meet.
StFX finished with 36 points, behind Dalhousie’s 28 point first place showing. Memorial University was third with 81 points, followed by Acadia (120), Moncton (158), Saint Mary’s (167) and St. Thomas (173).
Veteran fifth year runner Kelly MacDonald was the top finisher for the X-Women in fourth place, finishing the 5k race in a time of 18:56. She was followed by teammates Natalie Kannenberg (19:01) in fifth, as well as Becki Reeves (19:09), Melissa Hardy (19:24), Tory Anderson (19:32) and Liz O’Connell (19:54) who were 8th through 11th places, respectively.
Two Dalhousie runners took top spots as Ashley Ryer won in a time of 18:15, followed by Holly VanGestel (18:22). Seahawks runner Caroline McIlroy rounded out the top three at 18:44.
Also competing for the X-Women in the field of 62 runners were Natasha Herron (20:02) in 13th spot, Allison Trenholm (20:17) and Meggie Soehl (20:27) in 16th and 17th, Sarah Deveau (20:37) and Jessica white (21:05) in 20th and 21st, Kathryn Tuck (21:19) in 23rd, Alyson Woods (21:54) in 29th and Laura Sandre (22:16) in 32nd.
The Dalhousie meet marked the final one on the AUS fall schedule. The X-Women will have a break next weekend as they prepare for the AUS championship race slated for Saturday, October 29th in Fredericton, NB as the UNB Varsity Reds prepare to host.
