Kannenberg 3rd overall as X-Women run to second place

The X-Women cross country team competed at the Dalhousie Invitational meet this past Saturday at Point Pleasant Park in Halifax and finished in second place overall.

It was their second runner-up performance in as many weeks. The Dalhousie Tigers ran to first place once again with 24 points. The X-Women had 35 points, followed by Memorial with 78, Acadia with 137, UNB (144), Moncton (163) and Saint Mary’s (190).

Natalie Kannenberg was the top StFX finisher for the second consecutive week, placing third overall with a time of 18:52. She had also placed third last weekend at the Moncton Invitational. Gina Stewart of Dalhousie was first at 18:24, followed by Tigers teammate Cara Groves in second at 18:31.

Bree Bates of the X-Women ran in sixth place overall, with a time of 19:00 minutes, while Erin MacNeil (19:26), Helena Fiore (19:40) and Liz O’Connell (19:41) were 9th, 10th and 11th, respectively for StFX.

Finishing in 13th through 15th spots for the X-Women were Tathnee O’Meara (19:56), Louise Chiasson (19:56) and Brittany Morris (19:57). Bre Langley placed 20th overall at 20:15 while Meggie Soehl was 21st at 20:16.

Also competing for StFX were Sarah Deveau (20:26) in 25th, Melisa Hardy (21:06) in 34th, Flynn Regan (22:01) in 41st, Beth MacNeil (22:44) in 55th and Sarah Cramner Byng (23:01) in 59th. A total of 77 AUS runners participated in the 5k race. 

The X-Women will be off on the coming weekend, then next on the AUS circuit is the UNB Invitational on October 9th in Fredericton, NB.
