McGuire 2nd at Dalhousie meet

The X-Men cross country team competed at the Dalhousie Invitational meet this past Saturday at Point Pleasant Park in Halifax and finished in second place overall.

It was their second runner-up performance in as many weeks. The Dalhousie Tigers ran to first place once again with 22 points. The X-Men had 42 points, followed by Saint Mary’s with 92 and Memorial with 94.

Connor McGuire ran an impressive race for the StFX. After a third place finish last weekend in Moncton, McGuire placed second overall in Halifax, finishing the 8k race in a time of 24:54. Dan Gorman of Dalhousie won the race in 24:35 and Jean-Marc Doiron of Moncton was third at 25:02.

Freshman runner Dennis Myumba was the next X-Man to cross the finish line as he placed 8th overall with a time of 25:40. Julian MacLean was 12th at 25:45 and Ivan Lewis placed 12th at 25:53.

Rounding out the StFX finishers were Donald Rasmussen (26:26) in 16th, Zach MacDonald (26:29) in 17th, Stephen Deering (26:48) in 18th, Ryan Hawkrigg (27:04) in 21st and Gabe Quinneville (27:13) in 22nd place.

The X-Men will be off on the coming weekend, then next on the AUS circuit is the UNB Invitational on October 9th in Fredericton, NB.
