McCarron leads cross country win

The X-Men cross country team extended their unbeaten streak in AUS meets with another victory Saturday afternoon at home turf with a first place finish at the StFX Invitational in Antigonish.

With 19 total points the X-Men cruised to the victory with 7 runners in the top 10 including the race winner Lee McCarron who finished with a time of 26:11. McCarron sprinted to the finish line just ahead of Dalhousie runner Russell Christie (26:12), with X teammate David Gerych not far behind in third place at 26:13.

X-Men runners John Corbit (26:25), Petr Doubravsky (26:30) and Brent Addison (26:32) were fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively. Dalhousie runner Jason Wilson (26:45) was 7th then X-Men Ivan Lewis (27:30) and Connor McGuire (27:34) crossed the line in 8th and 9th spots.

The next X-Men finishers were Aaron Doucette (27:43) in 13th and Julian MacLean (27:46) in 14th. Zack MacDonald was 26th overall with a time of 28:30) while Kyle Tramble (28:57) placed 32nd, followed by Rob Lavers (29:12) in 34th and Ryan Hawkrigg (29:15) in 35th.

A total of 50 AUS runners and 71 runners overall competed in the 8k race on the course at StFX University on a cold afternoon. The X-men earned 19 points in the first place win, followed by Dalhousie with 52 points, UNB with 141 and Memorial and Saint Mary's each with 157.  

\r\n

Next on the schedule for the X-Men is the Murray Keatinge exhibition meet in Maine on October 3rd.
