X-Women 9th at CIS championship
The StFX X-Women placed ninth overall at the CIS cross country championship this past Saturday on the Plains of Abraham in Quebec City. Their X-Men counterparts earned a CIS silver medal for StFX University.

\r\nThe X-Women were led by AUS champion Gina Stewart who placed 13th overall (18:42.2) on the 5k course and earned CIS second team all-Canadian status. The race winner was Megan Brown (17:26.8) from Toronto, followed by Catherine Cormier (17:58.5) of Laval in second and last year’s champion Lindsay Carson (17:59.3) from Guelph in third.
\r\nGuelph capped off their second consecutive team win with 77 points, followed by Toronto (118) and Calgary (126). The X-Women earned 243 team points in 9th place out of a total 17 teams.
\r\nMonika Preibischova was the second X-Woman to cross the line in 23rd place with a time of 19:04.9 while Heather Mosher (19:18.2) was 33rd. Kelly MacDonald (20:03.8) placed 84th, Maddy MacDonald (20:20.4) was 96th and Helena Fiore (21:05.8) was 105th. Holly VanGestel was unable to run due to injury.
