X-Women run to 1st place

The X-Women cross country team won the Laval Invitational meet on Saturday in Quebec, finishing with 41 points to lead the team standings. Gina Stewart crossed the line in second place overall in the 4k trek with a time of 14:06.70 while X teammate Heather Mosher was 6th at 14:30.28. Monika Priebischova (14:52.74) and Holley VanGestel (14:53.77) placed 11th and 12th respectively and Kelly MacDonald (15:01.78) was 14th. Also participating for the X-Women runners amongst the 68 total competitors were Maddy MacDonald in 22nd spot (15:16.75); Bree Bates, 29th (15:34.56); Helena Fiore, 32nd (15:39.44); Bre Langley, 37th (15:53.93); Flynn Regan, 41st (15:59.87); Erin MacNeil, 42nd (16:04.51) and Paula MacDonald in 43rd (16:06.24).

Catherine Cormier of Laval University was the race winner with a time of 13:44.00. The X-Women took the first place honors (41 points) amongst 11 competing AUS and QSSF teams. McGill (44), Sherbrooke (66) and Laval (72) rounded out the top four. Next on the X-Women schedule is the AUS cross country championship taking place Saturday, Oct. 25 at the Universite de Moncton. The X-Women are the three-time defending AUS champs.
