Moncton, NB - Caitlin Crichton's goal on a penalty kick in the 23rd minute and a shutout by goalkeeper Christina Gentile allowed the STFX X-Women to blank the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues 1-0 on Friday at Stade Croix Bleue Medavie Stadium.
It was the last game of the season for the Aigles Bleues, who miss out on the AUS championship tournament next week in Antigonish, N.S.
The game was fairly evenly split between the two teams, with Moncton benefiting from three shots on goal and STFX five. Each team had two corner kicks but were unable to convert any goals on the set plays.
There was no scoring in the second half, with the defensive teams doing their job on the field.
The X-Women have another game to play on Saturday against the UNB REDS in Fredericton to close out AUS regular season play.
