WOLFVILLE, N.S. – Lauren Seamone's (New Germany, NS) overtime goal in the 105th minute was the game-winner as the STFX X-Women knocked off the feisty Saint Mary's Huskies 6-4 in overtime in AUS quarterfinal play to advance to the semi-final.

After the X-Women were up 4-1 ten minutes into the second half, the Huskies scored three unanswered goals to tie game up at 4-4 and force overtime.

A back-and-forth battle for 90 minutes slowed down in favour of the X-Women in the overtime periods. Seamone scored the first of two STFX goals in overtime as she one-timed the ball after a corner kick from Talia Morin (Ottawa, ON).

Brynn Jurus (Ancaster, ON) then scored the second overtime goal just two minutes after Seamone's strike to guarantee the STFX win.

The X-Women scored three minutes into the opening half on a goal by Hannah Yantha (Cambridge, ON) as one-touched a nice pass from Amanda Smith (Ottawa, ON) to redirect the ball past Huskies keeper Grace Morrison (Halifax, NS).

The Huskies replied 12 minutes later when Virginia Boone (Halifax, NS) tied the game at one. She was alone in front of the X net and got a foot on it after the ball bounced around following a crossed ball.

Smith, who was named the AUS Subway Player of the Game, scored her first of two goals in the game in the 33rd minute to regain a one-goal X-Women lead. Morin had another well-placed corner kick and Smith was in tight to flick the ball in.

The X-Women maintained the 2-1 advantage at halftime.

Aidan Miller (Chilliwack, BC) scored in the opening three minutes of the second half for the X-Women off another set piece. After a Seamone thrown in, Smith touched the ball over to Miller who made no mistake.

Smith then added her second goal of the game in the 55th minute to give the X-Women a 4-1 lead as she left-footed a high shot past Morrison.

The Huskies fought their way back in the game as Allie Martin (Halifax, NS) scored goals in the 58th and 72nd minutes. The first one was a lofted ball over the STFX defenders that Anelise Karakostas (Victoria, BC) directed on the open STFX goal and Martin had the last touch on the ball.

Martine then curled in a nice ball directly off a corner kick to pull the Huskies to within a goal at 4-3.

Karakostas, the Huskies' Player of the Game, scored the tying goal in the 82nd minute as the teams played out the remainder of regulation, forcing the extra 30 minutes of overtime play.

"It was a crazy game. We didn't expect it to go so back and forth, but it was awesome to get the win," said STFX's veteran forward Smith following the game. "It was great to see everyone get some goals. It was an entertaining quarterfinals for sure."

In 120 minutes, STFX's Jordyn Pratt (Calgary, AB) made eight saves off of 12 shots on the STFX goal, while on the other end, Morrison posted seven saves on 13 shots.

The X-Women will now move on to the semi-final playoff game Thursday at 3:00 pm as they face the first place Cape Breton Capers.
