X-Women shutout Sea-Hawks 3-0

St. John's, NF – The STFX X-Women improved to 4-1-0 on the season with a 3-0 shutout victory over the Memorial Sea-Hawks Saturday afternoon.

Christina Gentile earned the win in the X net with four saves on the afternoon.

Veteran forward Amanda Smith received Subway Player of the Game honours as she scored two goals for the X-Women.

Her first tally came in the 37^th minute and was the lone goal of the opening half. She scored again in the 62^nd minute then Brynn Jurus found the back of the net just four minutes later as the X-Women held onto the commanding lead and did not allow the Sea-Hawks to get on the scoreboard.

X-Women head coach Graham Kennedy noted, "We played a good team and Christina Gentile kept us in it for 45 minutes before we finally found our rhythm. I thought we were outstanding in the second half where we showed our quality after a difficult first half. Amanda Smith was the difference chipping in two goals and setting up the other."

The same two squads will be back in action tomorrow at 1:00 pm.
