Soccer X-Women shutout by Capers

The StFX X-Women dropped a 3-0 decision to the Cape Breton University Capers in AUS soccer action Friday afternoon in Sydney. Karolyne Blain led the way for the Capers with two goals in the game.

Blain opened the scoring in the 18th minute which held up for a 1-0 Capers half-time lead.

She followed up with a marker in the 58th minute, and teammate Shanice Maxwell added to the lead in the 77th minute as the Capers were able to hold the X-Women off the score sheet.

Emily Gillet earned the shutout win in nets for Cape Breton with 8 saves as the Capers outshot the X-Women 13-8. Maris Miller posted 10 saves in the StFX net. 
With the loss, the blue and white have a 6-5-1 regular season record. The X-Women return to action Sunday afternoon when they host the CIS ranked No. 10 Saint Mary’s Huskies (9-2-1) at StFX Oland Stadium. Game time is 1:00 pm.
