X-Women shutout Moncton 2-0

The X-Women soccer team improved to 4-2-1 on the AUS season with a 2-0 win over the visiting Universite de Moncton Aigles Bleues Sunday afternoon at Oland Stadium.

StFX midfielder Stephanie Cameron’s goal in the 26th minute was enough for the win. She scored the early goal off an Alix Buch ball.

Maura Woodman scored the insurance marker just 10 minutes later off a chip from the corner of the 18 yard box with the assist coming from Olivia Zanette.

The teams remained scoreless throughout the second half of the game. X-Women goalkeeper Maris Miller recorded the shutout win in nets for StFX, making four saves.

StFX outshot the Aigles Bleues 14-8. Cameron earned Player of the Game honors.

The X-Women currently sit in fourth place in the AUS conference with 13 points, just two points back of both Dalhousie (5-2-0) and Saint Mary’s (5-1-0). They will have the Thanksgiving weekend off and will next see action on Oct. 15th and 16th as they travel to Halifax for games against both the Tigers and Huskies.
